Building strong bones

Building strong bones is important throughout life. Growing children and adolescents as well as into adulthood it is vital to maintain healthy bone mass.  As we age, a number of actions in the way we live impact our ability to build and maintain bone mass. Bone loss may lead to osteoporosis.

Many toxins in our environment can sequester or gobble up essential nutrients important for bones. When we think of healthy bones we usually think immediately of Calcium. Calcium is important, however there is much more to the whole picture. Essential nutrients such as Vitamin D, Sodium and amino acids such as Lysine increase the absorption of Calcium into bones. Phosphorus such as in cola beverages interfere with Calcium absorption as well as caffeine in coffee.
